Brian Buczek Memorial Scholarship Fund
Brian '97 was born in Bloomingdale, NJ, son of Stan and Peg Buczek, brother to Donna '89, and Jeff '94. While attending DePaul High School, he became the
1996 NJ All-State Football selection as a DePaul High School star quarterback leading the team in back-to-back state championship appearances, all while wearing his Dan Marino-inspired #13 Jersey with Spartan Pride. It was his speed that translated into unbelievable achievements in track and field, where he was named to the Passaic All-County track team in 1996 and 1997. His 10.8 second, 100 meter dash in the 1997 conference championship still stands as the school record today. It was at that meet where he pulled off the rare triple-feat of winning the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, solidifying his status as one of the most celebrated athletes at DePaul Catholic High School where he is a member in the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Brian went on to earn a scholarship to Lafayette College and graduated in 2001. He later found success as an insurance executive in Florida, using his bright smile and charismatic personality to build a repeat client-base.
After Brian's untimely death in 2017, the Buczek family created the Brian Buczek Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund was established to support a DePaul Catholic Student in his or her sophomore through senior years. It recognizes an athlete featuring many of Brian’s qualities – passion, humility, confidence and the love of fellow teammates and students.
All proceeds from the annual golf outing and donations benefit this Scholarship Fund. Thank you for joining the Buczek family and the DePaul community as we honor the past, build a greater future, and remember one of DePaul's finest, Brian Buczek!

'Buczek' DePaul Graduates
Brian loved his time at DePaul. Listed above are members of the Buczek Family who graduated from or attended DePaul High School.
Stan Buczek had a love of football, friends and especially family. He loved the annual golf outing for Brian where he got to see so many people he loved and reminisce about Brian's football and track days at DePaul.
Stan was a big advocate of creating the Depaul Scholarship Fund in Brian's name and was so happy to help more students attend Depaul.
Stan will be missed but his memory lives on each time we gather and support a school he loved!
